Professional Development Programme in Public Relations Practice & Management.
I have been a member of PRISA for a number of years. When I first read up about them, I was really interested in becoming a member and although I have communication and public relations skills, I felt that PROVOX, which is an organisation affiliated with PRISA could offer me the skills and training that I needed to bridge the gap in my experience.
In 2009, I enrolled for the Public Relations Practice course which I thoroughly enjoyed. The lecturers were really amazing and made learning communication and public relations skills on a high level very easy.
During 2010, I enrolled for the Public Relations Management course. I heard that this course was quite intense, but I was up for the challenge.
The second week was even more interesting, but equally challenging. I received feedback on my assignments, which I thankfully passed and one of the highlights of the second week was meeting Freek Robinson, a television personality who is also a journalist. I must say that the interview with Freek Robinson taught me a lot about being on television and the interview actually was not as bad as I thought that it would be.
The lecturers that I was exposed to both during my Practice and Management course are knowledgeable and have a great understanding of the subjects that they taught us. Some of the lecturers such as Peter van der Schyff can make even a topic like IT interesting!
Today, after completing the Practice and Management course, I believe that I have gained valuable skills that I can successfully implement in my work environment. If you are interested in enrolling for either the Practice or the Management course, the most important advice I would give is to make sure that you understand all the principles that are being taught in the course. If you understand the principles, you will definitely be able to apply it in any company.
Thank you PRISA and PROVOX for offering this type of training and for making this an unforgettable learning experience. - Kavitha Kalicharan.
